HANDICAP DECREASES

As a fairly experienced golfer of over 30 years playing the game I was becoming rather frustrated at seeing my handicap gradually creep up from 9 to it's present level of 15.

I sought advice from my club professional Sam Quirke and have received a number of lessons over the last few months I am pleased to say that I no longer hit damaging hooks off the tee and my accuracy with the driver has improved dramatically.

Sam's advice has enabled me to harness more power with my long game without sacrificing accuracy. I now feel more confident of finding my drives in the fairway rather than in the woods.

I have now asked Sam to focus on my short game and have already started to get much more height and spin with wedge shots from 90 yards or less.

Sam's teaching style is relaxed and his aim is to get the best out of the individual taking into account age, physique and experience. I don't feel Sam wants us all to swing like Tiger.

Sam has made the golf game seem more simple.

During a lesson he gets me to work on only a couple of key swing thoughts at a time. This approach means that the lessons learned can be taken from the practice range straight onto the course.

It is true that there is a growing band of members at The Drift G C who are lining up to take lessons from their local pro and there is real progress in evidence from all his pupils.

I feel that my handicap will reduce this year and stop going up!

I have had lessons from a number of people, but none of them with the same knowledge and enthusiasm for the game as Sam’s.

His teaching style is very methodical and technical yet still always lets myself, the pupil; know what is going on step by step with my own swing. Sam also brings the video of your swings into play as this just helps any individual to really get a good look at what you’d been working on and to see how far you’ve come.

With the help and support from Sam my own game has blossomed into a repeatable constant swing, whilst also conquering my self doubts with books from the likes of Bob Rotella, introduced to me by Sam to help my confidence.

I can safely say that I won’t be changing coaches anytime soon as Sam is one of the leading young pros in the region.

I have played golf on and of for more than 30 years and during that time I have had lessons with more than half a dozen teaching golf professionals.

Undoubtedly Sam is the best teacher I have met. His instruction is clear, simple and easy to understand making him the ideal teacher for all handicaps.

Since starting lessons with Sam just over a year ago my handicap has dropped by 3 shots and I can clearly see areas for future improvement under his continuing guidance.  If you are truly looking for a teacher to improve your game and the pleasure you get from golf, I would heartily recommend Sam.

Sam is a fantastic coach, it's been a pleasure to receive instruction from him. He is easy going and does not overload his pupils with too much information and change all at once.

He's got a way of simplifying the game in ones mind. He has made a vast improvement to my game as a relative beginner, where it is easier to make changes and advancements, but I suspect he is good at building the confidence of any player, whatever their level.

After just a few lessons with Sam I now swing more consistently without so much effort, and we are going to work on a process for my erratic short game. Above all though he has helped my confidence and mental approach to the game, to keep it simple and enjoy myself on a golf course.

I was even able, after playing just 20 months, to obtain a birdie on the 11th at the Sandy Lane Country Club in Barbados this March! there is still a long way to go but I am sure Sam will help me get there.

I have only been taking lessons with Sam for a short time but what a difference. I know that the golf swing is a complicated affair but Sam has made it seem simple.

I really feel that I can trust my swing now and am hoping for even better results in the future.

As we all know a positive mental attitude to your game is so important and I can only say that this is getting stronger all the time. Sam gives me confidence in my abilities.

I have been receiving lessons from Sam Quirke for just under three years. In that time my handicap has gone from 22.5 to the present 12.6.

I would attribute my improvement to Sam’s teaching methods. There are no quick fixes and everyone presents a different set of problems. In my situation it has been a case of building my swing, and giving me the swing thoughts to carry that out, on a consistent basis.

Sam has a knack of finding routines and drills which can be practiced, so that when out on the course the swing does not feel alien.

Sam has an eye to spot room for improvement across the complete game of golf. From driving, fairway woods, rescue clubs, irons and very importantly the short game and putting! He will almost certainly change your attitude to those difficult chips and pitches out on the course. To see your ball start to check and stop near the pin is a certain sign that you are improving.

With an easy friendly manner it often seems as if a couple of hours have passed. It is just that a lot of knowledge is imparted to the pupil.

Sam possesses a detailed psychological knowledge of the game. He will often leave you with an interesting thought to use when out playing on the course.

Sam brings knowledge, patience and a desire to see improvement and success in his pupils golf ability. I do not feel that I have bought golf lessons from Sam, I have bought a golf swing and the ability to use it out on the course.

I would suggest that if you are committed to improving, are happy to practice and want a technique that will not crack out on the course book a series of lessons with Sam.
